Our Impact

2017:

  • 30 youth attended Peer Leader Mental Health program
  • 30 community members attended Mental Health First Aid for Inuit workshop
  • 80 children received funding to attend swimming lessons
  • 20 youth received funding to attend a yoga program
  • Development of mental health Train the Trainer program
  • Development of Child Advocacy Centre

2016:

  • 60 youth attended our Peer Leader Mental Health program
  • Development of Child Advocacy Centre

2015:

  • Created and piloted the Peer Leader Mental Health program with 30 youth
  • Feasibility Study completed for Child Advocacy Centre
  • Completed “Playing to Strength” program – Outputs:
    • 250 youth engaged
    • 10 youth trained and employed as facilitators/moderators
    • Implementation plan for preliminary solution(s) to social issues affecting Inuit youth
    • Reports and recommendations aimed at government and stakeholders responsible for Arctic social and economic policy development

2014: 

  • Needs Assessment completed for Child Advocacy Centre
  • Launched an electronic forum to encourage youth discussion.  “Playing to Strength” is a moderated, arctic-wide forum that engages and identifies and brainstorms solutions for significant issues that face youth.

2011-12:

Created a culturally-specific information package in 4 of Nunavut’s official languages about asthma.  Asthma rates are high in children aged 1-4 in Nunavut. This resource is used to educate children and parents about healthy asthma management. Links to your copy can be found here:
