The Board of Directors and Staff of the Arctic Children and Youth Foundation are pleased to announce that we are the recipients of a contribution from the Victims Fund with the Department of Justice Canada, Programs Branch.
This contribution will allow us over the next two fiscal years, to move forward with assessing the need and feasibility of a “Child and Youth Advocacy Center” in Nunavut. This project has been named “Umingmak Child and Youth Protection Center”.
Here you will find more information on the “Umingmak Child and Youth Protection Center, outlining what this center is, stages in our work plan, and our goals.
The mission of the Arctic Children and Youth Foundation is “to work at all levels to assist Arctic Children and youth to attain standards of living, education, opportunities and health and well-being equal to those of other Canadians.”
Although this project is specific to Nunavut, we are hopeful once we have a solid program in one location we will then be able to then address the needs across Canada’s Arctic. Thus to ensure Canada’s entire north have the same or similar opportunity if not already.
